Shoot to Edit

When filming to edit one of the things you need to keep in mind at all times is your planned shot list. A shot list is usually something you make up before you film, and it consist of the shot number, shot type and a detailed description of what the shot is and why you are doing it. This helps you cut down on excess footage that wont be used. When you have a shot list you are able to pre plan an edit which makes the job for the editor easier. Shooting for the edit for documentaries is a bit more difficult because anything could happen with contributors, however for tv shows and movies you would use a shot list to keep track of filming and the shots. When using a shot list it allows you to avoid editing roadblocks and helps organise footage and keep track of B-roll.
