Craft Skills - Monday 24th of September

For craft skills we got split in to 4 different groups. I was sorted into group D. The whole point of craft skills is to practice with the tech from the TI's.

How to slate:


Rules of Slatting:
  1. Always be positive
  2. Be professional and on time
  3. Be polite
  4. Listen
  5. Ask if you dont know
  6. Remember the chain of comand. Actors, directors and head of departments
  7. Be prepared for the weather
  8. Never say cut or action unless told so
  9. Always look busy - dont sit around
  10. Take lead from HOD
  11. Do not touch any gear that is not in your jurisdiction
  12. Apperance - turn up clean
  13. Own up to mistakes
  14. Saftey first
  15. Dont mess with the director
  16. Call the actors by there name not there characters
  17. Dont mess around with set radios
  18. Read the call sheets
  19. Be flexible and ready to work over time
  20. Be calm and collected
  21. Soak up everything and learn
  22. Stay out of the actors eyeline during takes.
Why do we use the rule of thirds? 
We use the rule of thirds because it makes the composition of the shot more pleasing to look at. When composing a shot we need to think about the mise-en-scene, so the arrangment of everything in the shot, as well as the foreground, midground and background.

The devils key trilorgy is a set of 3 music videos depicting how a former evil genius/physcopath, goes from robbing the devils key to becoming the devil himself. It is said that the idea has been planned since Too Wierd to Live, Too Rare to Die. If that is the case then this story has been in the works since 2013. The story consits of 3 videos all from varinging years. The first and second song are linked via the beging beats of This is Gospel overlapping into the end of Saturday Night. There is also similarities in costume. The connection between 2 and 3 is a bit more obvious, as the edn of This is Gospel   has main singer Brendon Urie running against the rope restraints and then hes drop into a mystious place. In  Emperors New Clothes we see this take place again as well as hearing an overlap of the previous song. The drop he faces was his drop to hell, where he turns into a devil. The Conspiracy Theory - Part 3

Before we even came to edit the film, the group and I knew that we wanted to use as little title cards as possible because we knew that with the foootage we had collated would drive the narrative on its own. We would onlu use them to introduce certain sections of the film, such as "and then things got complicated" to highlight that this is where the conspiracy element is injected. They are also used when doing comparasions between the "old" and "new" Avril. This is because w e knew and wanted the story to speak for itself and for the audience to become fully invested in the film and not the text on the screen.  The feedback we had gotten of other students was positive and they felt like the film had a clear and understanderble narrative. Our only issue was balancing some of the audio and making it fade in and out smoothly. This was all done with key framing in Premire Pro. Recreation: Conclusion

The recreation seen went well. We had many difficulties with choosing an appropriate scene amd then pulling it off with in a student house. With set design there are some shots that have either a fire alarm or a misplaced window. This couldnt be helped because we couldn't remove these features from the wall. We ended up having 3 days of filming because the scenes with Mark and Elena had timing issues and the lights were in shots. This was sorted with a third shoot day. Overall I thought the project was fun, but my opinion on recreating other peoples work still stands. I feel like it lacks creativity and can become dull and more time consuming than creating your own original work. With creating original work, you are much more likely to be passionate about it and dedicate more time to it.
